NISSAN FORKLIFT TRUCK PLANT IN SPAIN CELEBRATES 100,000 UNIT MILESTONE

NISSAN FORKLIFT TRUCK PLANT IN SPAIN CELEBRATES 100,000 UNIT MILESTONE

Barcelona
(10th June, 2008) - Nissan’s forklift truck plant in Noaín, Navarra (Nissan Forklift), today reached the 100,000 unit since its inauguration in 1989. The Noaín plant sells 85% of its production to the European market as well as to the United States and Japan.

The Noaín factory produces on average 40 forklifts per day. During the past fiscal year it produced 8,707 units, representing a 5% increase year on year.
This highly competitive plant makes it in one of the most strategic Nissan Forklift facilities in the world which is demonstrated by a significant nine million Euros investment in order to improve its facilities and increase its automatisation in preparation for new models.

In September, the factory will produce the first unit of the TX Series in its four-wheel version (TX4) which will extend the successful forklift range of electrical models. In November, the plant will begin cabin assembly for the new model GX series, in both diesel and LP gas versions, which will be sourced from Japan without overhead guards.

Milestone destined for the Dutch market

The 100,000th forklift produced in Noaín was an electric TX series with a two-ton lifting capacity and was sold to a customer in the Dutch market.

In order to commemorate this milestone, the Navarra plant welcomed its 300-strong employee base from Nissan Forklift in Spain, as well as Managing Director of Nissan Forklift in Europe, Toshio Nakamura, who extended his congratulations from Corporate Vice President of the Division of Industrial Machinery of Motor Nissan Co Ltd., Toshio Aoki, and offered a Japanese traditional picture to the plant.

Nissan Forklift in Spain
The Noaín Navarra plant is Nissan’s main fork-lift truck plant in Europe with a surface of 89,000 square metres. The plant produces internal combustion engine forklift trucks DX ECO-X Series in diesel and LP gas from 1.5 to 3.2 tons plus the electrical models QX and TX.

Nissan Forklift Espana SA distributes Noaín-built products across a network of 34 dealers in Spain and through a further 300 locations across other European countries.

Nissan Forklift Europe also sources products from Japan, the United States and warehouse equipment products from Atlet AB, the Swedish company that Nissan Motor Co. acquired in 2007.
