1980
Nissan acquires an equity interest in Motor Iberica, S.A. in Barcelona, Spain.
1983
Nissan Motor Iberica S.A., Spain, begins production of the Patrol (Safari).
1984
Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK) Ltd. is established in Sunderland.
1988
Nissan European Technical Centre Ltd. is established in the United Kingdom.
Now well-established, Nissan Europe continues to grow - and begins winning awards.
1989
Nissan Europe NV (NENV) is established in Amsterdam to oversee the entire scope of
Nissan's activities in Europe. This includes product development, manufacturing, procurement and fund raising.
1991
A new National Sales Company, Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd., is established in the UK.
1992
Nissan Design Europe GmbH is established in Germany.
The Micra is launched in Europe, built in Sunderland. It wins the 1993 car of the year in Europe.
1993
Nissan Motor Iberica SA begins production of a new 4WD model, the Terrano II, for the European market. It becomes a worldwide success, accounting for more than 15% of the Barcelona/Spanish plant's production by 1999.
1995
Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK) Ltd. begins production exports of the Micra to Australia.
1997
Nissan European Technical centre (Espana) SA is established.
1999
Renault and Nissan sign an agreement for a Global Alliance.
Carlos Ghosn and Patrick Pelata join the Nissan Board of directors.
2000
Carlos Ghosn is named President and Chief Operating Officer of Nissan by the board of directors.
2001
Renault and Nissan's new common commercial organizations in Europe, the first single Legal Entities(SLEs), are established in Switzerland and in Netherlands.
Carlos Ghosn is named President and Chief Executive Officer of Nissan by the board of Directors.
For fiscal year 2001, Nissan Europe returns to operating profitability and Nissan achieves a worldwide operating profit of 8% -- the highest in the company's history.
2002
Carlos Ghosn joins the Renault Board of Directors.
Renault and Nissan's new common commercial organization in Europe, the third Single Legal Entity(SLE), is established in Germany.
Nissan sets up its new European headquarters in the Paris area. The new company is registered under the name of Nissan Europe SAS.
2003
Renault and Nissan's new common commercial organization in Europe, the fourth Single Legal Entity(SLE), is established in Austria.
Nissan opens its European Design Centre in London.
2005
Nissan opens its first wind farm on its production facilities in Sunderland, UK.
Nissan sells its 10 millionth car in Europe.
